Curious (and yes I know I could go and look myself but I'm in Thailand.) if there are still basically two casino's(Binions and the old Mint) full of craps tables, and said tables full of older gentlemen and the games run by equally older men in the box? It's been over ten years and I didn't even know they sold the Horseshoe name until read it here. I'm planning a vacation back to the USA starting in Las Vegas and just want to do some research ahead of time. I asked about steaks elsewhere as an example.
I'm also interested if they still have $1.usd min bets with 100times odds(I think I read now only 10times?)?
Cheers from Bangkok where the women are hot but no craps tables. Nok

But some of those 'women' aren't women. It's like Spanish 21. Looks like Blackjack, but it's not really.

Might not be current, but I seem to recall having heard that only Casino Royale offers 100x odds (and people on here have questioned whether they would actually accept such a bet). I've only been in the place once, and was disappointed (from the name, I was expecting a classier place).
Casino Royale indeed offers 100x if you have $5 on the line. IIRC Binion's was 10x.
4 tables.
One $3 table during the week days.
Swing shift has the best dealers IMO.
If you like half naked women, young, craps dealers, dealing the game,
they have one table for you right as you walk in.
They were a bit stuffy, they should be more flirty, maybe just a bad day they were having.
All the many craps tables you talk about are gone.
The many that went back past the cage and went left are all gone.

Times have changed I guess. That's the information I was seeking, thanks. The place used to have a 'craps' feel about it, tables and players everywhere. Cheers mate. Nok

After a few years here you grow out of that phobia. Once the deed is done you forget about it all and look forward to the next days adventures. It's not as difficult as the western tourists think it is to decipher a ladyboy from a lady With that said, many German and English visitors along with Indians prefer ladyboys because they can and do slap them around and take them for 'group sex' with say five Indians who share a room etc. Best of luck. As for 100x odds, didn't I read again on here that outside of Vegas, Horseshoe properties offer 100x odds? Thanks. Nok

Unfortunately, Binion's is not the craps palace it once was. Here is a page lamenting Binion's downfall.
By the way, Binion's absorbed The Mint in 1988. So, if you were at The Mint during your last visit to Vegas, it's been a whole lot longer than ten years.
Downtown Vegas is very different from those pre-1996 days when Freemont was actually a street. Gone are the amazingly quiet, easy-going nights on the sidewalk, along with the grey, Damon Runyon types hanging out at the tables, scratching a record of their bets into little notebooks. Now, we have the 'Fremont Street Experience,' dominated by throngs of drunken tourists gawking skyward, ear-splitting cover bands and a multitude of various 'side-show' vendors, all hopelessly gridlocking the path of any gambler just who wants to get from casino 'A' to casino 'B.'

The 'downtown' charm is long gone, and the table minimums match those on the strip. El Cortez sits just outside of this melee, but it too has succumbed to ever increasing minimums, and, even worse, to a remodeling campaign of cheap, retro swank.Casino Royale Poker Tables Reviews
Main Street Station is the nicest place to play craps downtown, and it still features 20x odds (often with $5 minimums).
If you seek low minimum tables, the Joker's Wild has a $1 table (10x odds) that breaks down payoffs into 25-cent increments. The Fortune casino (further down Boulder Highway, near downtown Henderson) has a $1 table, but it doesn't payoff in 25-cent increments (and it can get slightly smoky).
Bill's has a low-minimum Rapid-Craps table (and I think, a few other casinos have it), and low-minimum Shoot-To-Win machines can be found all over Vegas.
Good variance!

When Binion's went bankrupt Harrah's purchased their two most valuable assets, (1) The World Series of Poker brand name, and (2) The Horshoe brand name. They didn't care at all about the brick and mortar. That is why the old casinos is now called Binion's instead of 'Binion's Horshoe'. There is no correlation between Binion's and any other casino branded Horshoe.
They only do $1 minimum very late at night, if ever. They never go above 10X odds. Downtown doesn't go above 20X odds and $2K maximum (offered at Main Street). The 100X odds are experimental at other areas around Vegas. For a while Cannery offered those odds. Now it seems to be Riviera.
Riviera has stated their focus now will be in Las Vegas.
